Officers sought for tree-care courses

The Ancient Tree Forum (ATF) is looking for tree officers to attend its three-day courses to enable them to deliver a one-day course on veteran tree care.

Speaking at the ARB Show, ATF co-ordinator Dr Helen Read said the one-day courses "are pretty generic for people of different backgrounds". She added: "Through the Country Land & Business Association we hope to reach landowners with ancient trees."

Her presentation included the "world premieres" of two videos, which Read narrates in English, featuring crown reduction and halo clearance. These and others will soon be freely available online in the network's six languages.

A partner in the EU-funded VETree project, the ATF now has a staff of three. The first three-day course in the UK is in September.
