The centre features a 190-seat restaurant and a separate food department complete with local butcher Ian Chatfield, a new children’s play area and a pet department.

The new centre is 2,500sqm and includes a living wall, a bandstand, solar panels, movement sensor taps and a low energy ambient lighting system.

Caroline Notcutt, non-executive director and great grand-daughter of the founders at Notcutts, will open the centre on 11 April.

Stanley Bragg of Colchester was the builder and Dalziel and Pow designed the interior.
