Notcutts Bagshot Waitrose development set to go ahead

Planners have recommended approval for plans for a rebuilt garden centre at Notcutts Bagshot, Surrey alongside a new Waitrose supermarket.

The retailer’s application was lodged with Surrey Heath Borough Council in June 2013 in partnership with Notcutts.

Notcutts will be demolished to create a 6,437sqm development to be split evenly between the two retailers.

The new £14m joint store will be just under double the size the existing 3,827sq/m garden centre and will feature 349 parking spaces – an increase of 121.

The application has been recommended for approval by council officers, subject to conditions including the provision of funds for local infrastructure.

Notcutts chief executive Andy King said the store was in "great need" of modernisation.
