The council has budgeted £1.8m a year over the seven-year lifetime of the contract, with a potential seven-year extension. A street cleaning contract is worth 60% of that amount while a ground and tree maintenance contact takes up the remaining 40%.
The grounds and tree maintenance contract covers around 1,100 landscape areas and includes grass cutting, hedge and shrub bed maintenance, conservation management, play area inspections, minor infrastructure repairs and maintenance and an arboricultural service. The contract has a resource-based structure.
The street cleansing contract covers approximately 1,150 km of highways. Operations including street cleansing, beach cleansing, weed control and fly tipping operations. The contract structure here is primarily schedule of works with some resource-based provision.
