"No credit crunch" at Coolings as redevelopment work starts

"There is no credit crunch at Coolings", according to chairman Paul Cooling, as works begin on the redevelopment of Coolings garden centre in Knockholt, Kent.

Cooling added: "Development is on track for opening in spring 2009."

Burton-on-Trent-based builder George Hodges and Son is working on the project and is proving to be a leading choice for those wanting to expand their garden centres.

Cooling said: "Hodges, so far, have been great, thoughtful and pro-active, very conscious of health and safety issues. All in all a great weight off my mind."

Hodges completed work on a restaurant and food hall this month at Raglan Garden Centre in Monmouthshire for GCA chairman Martin Davies and are almost finished at Frosts £2m extension in Woburn Sands for MD Paul Wright.

Previous high profile garden centre clients include Poplars and Scotsdales.
