The board consists of ten members but the current arrangement of overlapping terms ensures continuity, according to the NFU.
Current board members can seek reappointment, which all six incumbents intend to do.
The deadline for applications is 21 February. For full details of members' duties and the selection procedure, see the NFU website.
Meanwhile the NFU has released its list of candidates for the positions of president, deputy and vice presidents.
Following the retirement of current president Peter Kendall next month, his position will be contested by current deputy president and Pembrokeshire mixed farmer Meurig Raymond, and current vice-president Adam Quinney, a Worcestershire livestock and arable farmer.
