New firm offers complete service

Business aims to provide start-to-finish landscaping services.

A garden designer has created a landscaping business to help with every stage of a garden’s creation. Deborah Oakley launched Quercus Design last month after noticing how many gardens fail to end up looking like their initial designs. She hopes that Quercus will be able to remedy this by offering a service that sees a project through from beginning to end. This includes landscape architecture services in the early stages and planting and building at the end. The 35-year-old, whose Buddhist garden picked up a gold medal at the RHS Flower Show at Tatton Park last year, said: “Very often a landscape architect will draw up a scheme, but the actual work is carried out by sub-contractors, and so the end result is nothing like what the original designer had in mind.” The company will also maintain landscaped areas once building work is complete to ensure they remain in good condition.
