Winners at the international nursery stock trade fair, which was held on 27-30 August, also included Elburg Botanic Media for best stand, Gootjes-Allplant for best seedlings and Klimplantenkwekerij for best retail stand.
Best trade stand was awarded to Aquaflora Vinkeveen, while Nolina Kwekerijen scooped the prize for best production as well as the overall winner accolade.
Walter Blom deputy managing director Stephen Page said he was delighted with the win for Dicentra 'Burning Hearts'.
He added: "This is the first year we've had a stand at Plantarium."
He said the plant would be available by mail order from Suttons and that Knowle Hill Nurseries, in Evesham, would be pot-growing for garden centres.
An international jury of horticultural journalists, chaired by Netherlands magazine Passie Voor Tuinen director Lieuwe Zander, awarded the press prize to Fitzgerald Nurseries. The Irish nursery won the prize for its My Plant concept - a range of easy-to-grow plants aimed at consumers who are not expert gardeners but recognise the aesthetic and environmental benefits.
A total of 15 entrants competed for the Plantarium press award, including Syngenta, Hortis Holland and Lancashire-based Northern Liner Company.
Fitzgerald Nurseries managing director Pat Fitzgerald said: "This is the first time we've won a prize at Plantarium and we are very pleased. It is good to win something in Holland and I feel very honoured."
