Former commercial director at the Wolverhampton-based amenity grower Mott said: "Tim is looking at more strategic projects. I'm looking at expanding the existing business and improving profitability.
"Tim will fulfill the role of chairman because, after many years as non-executive chairman, Cliff Blott has retired from the company completely."
Penny Fryer has become director of production.
Mott added: "It has been a challenging year and the market has been quite depressed because of imports being expensive.
"It has been a tough year (and) although we are starting to see signs of improvement, they are weak and inconsistent.
"There has been more activity in the housing market compared with a year ago and some local authority spending, and there are still school projects going ahead. But we are not expecting to see vast improvement over the next 12 months."
