National Garden Scheme members prepare for Easter openings

The National Garden Scheme (NGS) is preparing to open a whole host of gardens across the country this Easter.

These gardens can normally only be viewed privately, but this event run by the NGS gives the public a chance to appreciate the fruits of many hours of effort put in by national garden owners over the year.

Every year, the NGS raises millions of pounds from the modest garden entry charges generated from the scheme, and donate it all to deserving charities such as Hospice UK and Macmillan Cancer Support.

George Plumptre, chief executive of the National Garden Scheme said, "Over the holidays families will be looking for an enjoyable, relaxing place to visit and an NGS garden will always provide a very welcoming and affordable afternoon out."
