Mildenhall grower Pearl Sulman dies aged 65

Pelargonium grower Pearl Sulman has died aged 65.

With husband Brian, she ran a nursery in Mildenhall for more than 35 years were awarded 52 Royal Horticultural Society gold medals, including seven at the Chelsea Flower Show, and the society’s Anthony Huxley Trophy for their pelargoniums at the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show in 2009.

They first met at horticultural college 49 years ago and later took a stand at about 30 shows horticulture a year. They retired in 2010 before selling the last of their stock in July 2011.

A celebration of Mrs Sulman’s life will be held at St Mary’s Church in Mildenhall at 11.30am on 4 April.
