Measures to ensure plant health discussed at Barcham Trees day for garden designers

Members of the Hertfordshire cluster group of the Society of Garden Designers recently had a guided tour of Barcham Trees' 80ha nursery, which holds around 100,000 container-grown trees.

Barcham's David Johnson led the delegates, answering their questions and giving his view on a wide range of tree-related subjects and how trees can be used in their work.

It was a first visit for all the delegates and while none had previously planted trees from Barcham, Johnson gave an insight into the nursery's work at all stages of production.  The visitors were particularly keen to learn about the threat from tree diseases and measures Barcham takes to ensure plant health.

"The designers told me the day was of considerable value to them, and we would welcome pre-arranged visits from other interested professional groups", said Johnson.
