The Landscape Agency associate director hopes to plan designs for Clifton to build. He is also planning a Clifton RHS Chelsea Flower Show garden in 2012.
Wilson, who helped Nigel Dunnett with Chelsea 2011's Royal Bank of Canada New Wild Garden, added: "Clifton is garden design, construction and maintenance, and that is the side I want to develop even further. The garden centre is a great shop window and fantastic for clients to be able to look at plants they want to have in their garden."
He added: "Clifton won five gold medals in the 1990s at Chelsea and I hope to have a show garden with Clifton at Chelsea in 2012. I'd love to do that."
Wilson explained that he hoped Jay Hunt - taking up her role as Channel 4 chief creative officer - could see a second series of his Landscape Man programme, which was abandoned with filming half-finished in 2010 after news of Hunt's recruitment from the BBC came through.
Television retail consultant Mary Portas once described Clifton as "the perfect garden centre", which felt "beautiful" and had "returned to basics".
