The company recently won a National Gold Award for Environmental Best Practice at the International Green Apple Awards in London.
The Green Organisation, which runs the International Green Apple Awards, is an environment group that aims to reward and promote environmental best practice.
Marshalls also achieved the Wildlife Trusts' Biodiversity Benchmark. Its Maltby works produced a biodiversity action plan to ensure proper site management. A new conservation area has been created in an old pump lagoon, with a man-made island retreat. This has seen the spreading of more than 200 tonnes of soil for new planting, reeds placed to form new wetland areas, 150 trees planted and grass and wildflower seed sown.
A Green Apple Awards judge said: "Marshalls is a winner of many environmental awards, which is testament to its never-ending efforts to adapt its working practices to benefit the environment."
