The new facility can also co-extrude films comprising of five individual layers, further advancing its range of "smart" films that enable the active management of ambient light and temperature in a variety of climatic conditions.
Specifically, the manufacturer will be able to tailor each film layer to offer specific performance characteristics - all with the ultimate goal of helping growers to improve both their crop quality and yield.
The line's advanced nature also provides bpi.visqueen with precision control of film width and thickness as well as control of polymer blend, dosing and of any additives used in a film's production.
Roy McAdoo, bpi.visqueen commercial director, said: "The multi-million pound investment at our Ardeer site has seen many new and exciting additions and enhancements to the factory - and none more so than our new five-layer-wide film line. We're proud of it, of its capabilities and of its remarkable nature. We've every confidence that customers will share this excitement once they experience some of the new and existing products it will be used to produce."
