Harrow Council has a stock of around 300,000 trees, of which around 18,000 are beside roads and around 60,000 are spread throughout parks, schools, housing estates, allotments and cemeteries.
The rest are located in four countryside sites of 102 hectares and nine woodlands of 28ha.
In the first lot Harrow is looking for a contractor to manage cyclical arboriculture maintenance, reactive maintenance and an emergency call-out service 365 days a year.
The second involves tree planting. The council currently plants 300 trees a year but this is set to increase as there have been a range of Section 106 allocations for tree planting alongside several localised ward specific initiatives. Ceremonial tree planting is also required on occasion.
The contract is for four years and is due to start in May. For more information contact Breda Hillman on email@example.com by March 25.
