Local authority to invest £2.3m in parks and green spaces maintenance kit

Wirral Borough Council, which is undergoing a root-and-branch review of parks and countryside services, is looking to buy around £2.3m of maintenance equipment.

Duration of the framework agreement is 12 months and kit will include around 220 machines, such as small and large rotary pedestrian mowers, tractors, ride-on and flail mowers, arboricultural equipment, trailers and cemetery machinery.

"The council is undergoing a comprehensive review and modernisation programme for its parks and countryside services," said a spokesman. "There will therefore be a need for significant investment in new grounds-maintenance plant and equipment.

"Consequently the Council is seeking to purchase the most up-to-date equipment that will facilitate efficient ‘lean' ways of working, taking into account environmental considerations such as carbon reduction."
