Lindley publishes Robinson's letters

A catalogue of the personal correspondence of horticulturist, author and publisher William Robinson (1838-1935) has been released by the RHS Lindley Library.

Comprising 220 letters spanning 70 years, his correspondents include horticulturists (EA Bowles, Gertrude Jekyll, Frank Crisp, CW Earle, Frances Wolseley, Arthur Bulley, Samuel Reynolds Hole, Robert Marnock, Ellen Willmott, Augustine Henry), botanists (JD Hooker, Reginald Farrer, Frederick Hanbury, Arthur Hill, JT Boswell, George Maw, Henry Vilmorin), scientists (Charles Darwin, Richard Owen, Oliver Lodge), social reformers, artists, writers, politicians and nobility.
