LeisureGrow buys Christmas specialist NOMA

Furniture and barbecue company LeisureGrow has bought Christmas lights and trees supplier NOMA.

Responsibility for NOMA will come under Jody Grimmer as managing director of LeisureGrow, with Frank Kaminski joining to take on the role of sales and marketing director. Steve Hatton will remain in his role as product manager to carry on the work he started at NOMA 18 months ago. Kaminski has experience in Christmas decoration supply, especially lighting, previously at product and branding development at Edelman and as art director at advertising agency McCann Erickson.

Hatton developed the ‘Black Box Trees’ brand. Four NOMA staff will join LeisureGrow to provide continuity of service.   LeisureGrow also owns Erin growing media and Grillstream barbeques.

Grimmer said: "NOMA has a great reputation for producing quality products and for delivering on its promises.  What it’s missed for the past couple of years is investment in new product development which will be the immediate priority. We see lots of synergies with the LeisureGrow Group ethos, and we’re looking forward to NOMA joining the LeisureGrow family.  We have been looking to develop a Christmas offering for a while to complement our other seasonal businesses, but we have been holding out to find the right brand – and in NOMA we believe we have found our perfect match.  LeisureGrow is very ambitious about what NOMA can achieve – we’ve got a best-in-class team in place, and we see NOMA rising to the forefront of the Christmas decorations industry."

Kaminski added: "I have always had great respect for the NOMA brand, and with the new team in place, we are really excited and looking forward to building on the existing portfolio and branding to take to the next level.  Watch this space for some new exciting innovative products and merchandising ideas  – all with the same quality and standards the trade has come to expect from NOMA over the last 75 years."

Clive Capel, incumbent managing director for NOMA, said: "The NOMA brand has been a big part of our family for the past two generations, but I know that in LeisureGrow we have found the perfect buyer who will respect the NOMA brand and all the values we have built up over the years, and also give NOMA a new lease of life so that it can continue for generations to come. After 40 years in the business I feel I can retire easy in the knowledge that my company and staff will be well cared-for."
