Lea Valley group's history published

A book documenting the history of the Lea Valley Growers' Association has just been published.

London's Lea Valley - A Century of Growing is written by Dr Jim Lewis, the author of several books on the area and currently a consultant to Terry Farrell & Partners.

Market gardening in the Lea Valley dates back to the 18th century and it was once the world's most concentrated greenhouse area.

The association was formed in 1911 and lobbies on growers' behalf at national and European level. The book is published by Libri Publishing, priced £25.
