Landscape oasis set for Spa Gardens

Planning permission won for park and piazza in Bermondsey Spa Gardens

Broadway Malyan has won planning permission for a park and piazza with community buildings in Bermondsey’s Spa Gardens. The project worth just under £1m will see the existing jaded park spruced up with floodlit paths, multi-sports surfaces and toddlers’ play area. Granite paving will form a piazza at the heart of the scheme. Landscape architects from the firm’s London office are working with its architects and the locals we use a new community building for children and a health centre. Landscape architect Zöe Wallace, an associate at Broadway Malyan’s London office, is heading up the work on 2.5 hectares. Builders are due on site shortly and are expected to finish before the year’s end. Her firm won a competition run by Southwark council’s regeneration team to land the job and has worked closely with the local community on renewing a vandalised site.
