Landscape gardeners to be fast-tracked for Australian work visas

Landscape gardeners have been added to a list of occupations in demand by the Australian immigration department for the first time.

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) in Australia is pushing a drive to recruit landscape gardeners and tree surgeons.

It has placed the jobs at the forefront of the Migration Occupations in Demand List (MODL).

Australia's recognition of such occupations has come at a time of high economic prosperity, an increase in the number of houses being built and the influx of immigrants to Australia already at record levels, said a representative.

West London and Brisbane-based firm Thames Migration offers advice to people wishing to move abroad and migration expert Hannibal Khoury said there was a huge opportunity for landscape gardeners.
