Kelkay managing director Anthony Harker said: "The industry is going to have a shortage again. We realised a few months ago and negotiated deals and are sitting on a mountain. We have more pre-sold than ever before. This is not a distress purchase any more."
Kelkay launched a winter deal of snow shovels, sledges, kindling, house coal, smokeless coal and Ice Breaker salt at the show.
Marketing manager Dan Jakes said: "At one point last winter we couldn't get salt because the Government said it all had to go to councils. Garden centres don't want to buy it yet, but they should." He added that two cold winters in a row would keep sales buoyant for four or five years.
Wolf-Garten has also introduced three new Snow Shovels. One is in aluminium with a 44cm clearing width and two plastic shovels have 40cm and 55cm widths.
In September (HW, 24 September) Green-Tech warned that 85 per cent of salt supply had been swallowed up by councils already.
