John Deere launches mower design for European market

Machinery firm uses IoG Saltex to launch new product range to industry

John Deere chose IoG Saltex to launch three new products, including a pedestrian mower aimed at the local authority and grounds maintenance contractors’ market. The 7H17 Commercial hydrostatic mower is the first with a rear discharge deck to be designed by the firm for the European market. Powered by a 17hp Kawasaki engine, it has a 23-litre fuel tank and large drive tyres. The mower can be used on slopes and features a safety system that stops the machine if the operator moves away. It also prevents the engine from being started in unsafe conditions. The fully floating rotary mower deck is 1.22m long and is made to the same design as other John Deere models. The company also launched a compact tractor and an addition to the Gator materials-handling vehicle range. The 26hp 2520 compact tractor is based on the same overall design as the mid- and large-chassis models in the John Deere 20 Series range. A Tier 2 engine generates up to 10 per cent more power than the model it replaces. Mid-mounted rotary mower decks include a rear discharge unit and two new side discharge decks, which are easy to hitch and use. The tractor offers a new front hitch and powered take-off, which is compatible with the newly-styled front loader, in addition to the standard mid-mounted PTO. The TX Turf Gator has a 13hp Kawasaki engine, a cargo capacity of 272kg and a payload and a towing capacity of 454kg.
