Project Reseeding football pitch
Client Falkirk FC
The looming start of the 2009 Scottish Premier League season saw Falkirk Football Club in need of a new seed to drag its pitch into its prime in time for the first matches of the season this August.
Falkirk's head groundsman Jim Dawson, a three-time winner of the IoG Scottish Football Groundsman of the Year award, said turf around goalmouths and the tunnel area was "coming away with wear".
The club contacted Barenbrug. Dawson's team used rapid turf repair mixture BAR 50 SOS and the deep-rooting BAR 10 RTF.
"Barenbrug seed delivered tremendous results," he said. Dawson was also pleased with the ryegrass blend. BAR 50 SOS, specifically bred for its rapid establishment and cool soil temperature germination, was a boon given the weather and timeframe.
"SOS is outstanding and definitely saved our surfaces over winter. Players, managers and ground staff have all commented on how great the pitch looked and performed."
