The play area was designed to provide a positive play experience for children of all ages and was installed by Monster Play Systems.
Loughton Town Council was given £15,000 by the Essex County Council Community Initiatives Fund. Work on adjacent trees and specialist root work was carried out by Epping Forest District Council, which is the freeholder of the land.
The centrepiece of the playground is a BigToys Acclaim unit that will hold more than 30 children and incorporates eight activities in one piece of equipment. A multi-rider see-saw, pedestals and balance beam are aimed at challenging users to invent games using strength, ability and balance.
Loughton Town Clerk Louise Fuller said the playground had already provoked a good response from children in the area.
She added: "The thinking behind the new playground was that it should be inclusive to a wide range of age groups and we are satisfied it does now accommodate infants and older users alike.
"We are confident the playground users will enjoy this greatly improved facility."
