Job Done - New sports pitch in Grimsby

Project: New iDNA football pitch

Client: NE Lincolnshire council

Contractor: Agripower Contractors

Buckinghamshire-based sports ground specialists Agripower Contractors has recently completed the £1.3m installation of the first iDNA football pitch by Desso Sports Systems.

The site includes: an irrigated, floodlit full-size natural Premier pitch with seating; one full-size Desso iDNA fully floodlit 3G synthetic pitch, to both Football Association and Football Foundation specifications; three full-size natural training pitches that have been drained and sand ameliorated; attenuation for pavilion; car parks and all pitch works; secure fencing systems for the whole area; turnstiles and stands.

The facility management team wanted a surface to play football on throughout the year and able to withstand heavy use.

The project was part-funded by North East Lincolnshire Council, Football Association and the Football Foundation. Agripower was awarded the contract in late August 2009 with work starting in early September. The project was finished ahead of schedule largely due to the company's in-house resources of equipment and manpower.
