Job Done - Construction of golf course with wetland features

Project: Creating an inland links golf course

Client: St Ives Golf Club

Contractor: Ely Golf International

An inland golf course with wetland features will open in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, this year following work to improve the topsoil and seed the greens.

Reading-based golf course construction firm Ely Golf International was commissioned by St Ives Golf Club to build a new 18-hole course. Landscape architecture practice Landscape Perspective worked with architects from Mador & Partners in support of the planning application for the club house and driving range, and secured permission in 2007.

Greens have been constructed using pure sand to improve the topsoil, with full herringbone drainage and irrigation installed. British Seed Houses mixtures were used for the heavy-clay site.
