Inverness Floral Hall is being rebranded as Inverness Botanic Gardens after councillors approved £39,000 of funding to relaunch the visitor attraction.
Members of the Adult and Children’s Services Committee gave their support to High Life Highland’s business plan for the £111,000 redevelopment, which focuses on extending the centre’s cafe area and improving kitchen facilities.
A new programme of horticultural events and activities will also be organised.
Committee chair councillor Alasdair Christie said: "These plans to revitalise the former Inverness Floral Hall will provide a welcome boost to the visitor attractions complement within Inverness."
Prince Edward opened the attraction in 1993.
