Speaking at the RHS London Autumn Harvest Show, Hardy's Cottage Garden Plants owner Rob Hardy said that few growers were still using Royal Mail: "The internet is starting to pick up even more now that transport costs and delivery companies are improving."
Hardy said he uses Business Post, from UK Mail, because he sells full-size plants that need to be in carriers.
Chrysanthemums Direct sales manager Martyn Flint, who was also speaking at the RHS show, said that internet sales driven by shows had been the key to his company's success.
"We have good promises of business and internet sales have been strong," said Flint. "Internet sales in regions follow after we have done shows in different parts of the country. If we exhibit in an area, sales subsequently rise there."
