International Brewing Awards opens 2013 entries to cider makers with new category

Cider makers will be entitled to enter the next International Brewing Awards (IBA) for the first time.

The 2013 edition of the biennial awards opens for entries in August, with judging taking place in February.

Up to 1,000 entries are expected across nine categories, which now include "apple cider" and "cider incorporating other fruit, juices or flavours".

Chair of the judges Bill Taylor said: "We believe that the introduction of cider reflects market changes and maintains links with the traditions of the competition." See www.brewingawards.org for entry details.
