Interception: Thrips on aubergine

Thrips present on Aubergine.

The Food and Environment Research Agency has reported the presence of Thrips (Thripidae) on Solanum melongena at Heathrow Airport.  The country of origin of the plants was Ghana. The interceptions took place on 21st, 22nd, 26th and 28th of May.

A further such consignment arriving at Gatwick Airport from the Dominican Republic was intercepted on 19th May and another originating in Mexico on 21st May. All affected produce was destroyed.
