Institute to take over CABE Space projects

The Landscape Institute has confirmed that it will assume responsibility for CABE Space's Spaceshaper and Green Day initiatives following the design body's merger with the Design Council this month.

The institute will work with Kent Architecture Centre and Wakefield-based arts and architecture organisation Beam to deliver Spaceshaper, a system of measuring the quality of public space to assess its suitability for investment. The Green Day schools initiative will continue to highlight climate change issues relating to buildings and open spaces.

The partnership plans to operate Spaceshaper as a self-funded business model, while funding for Green Day will continue to come from sponsorships.

A Landscape Institute representative said that both the initiatives sat well within the organisation's remit.
