Industry clubs together in aid of forces charity Help for Heroes

The garden industry has presented forces charity Help for Heroes with a cheque for £210,633. The charity's chief financial officer Jonathan Ballin accepted the cheque.

Also represented were B&Q, which raised £179,786, staff from Birmingham parks who helped raise the B&Q total at Chelsea and Birmingham Flower Shows, Kings Seeds, Garden Centre Group, Simply Sweet Peas and Suttons.

Mr Fothergill's raised the most among the seed companies at £14,640. All sold £2.99 packets of sweet peas with £1 going to the charity.

Some sold plants again with a percentage to the fund and in addition to sweet peas B&Q sold Petunia Help for Heroes plants.
