"Over the past 12 months, sales of fruit trees as a percentage of all fruit sales have increased by seven per cent, now accounting for 25 per cent of all fruit sales," she said. "This is primarily down to the introduction of more patio and family trees into the range.
"Our top-selling tree varieties are still traditional favourites such as Plum Victoria, Apple Bramley and Apple Cox's Orange Pippin. Raspberries have consistently been the top-selling soft fruit for the past three years, followed by strawberries and blueberries. We don't see the same loyalty to older varieties with soft fruit as we do with trees.
