Impact of pests, diseases and 'devolved forestry policy' on management to feature on ICF national study tour

The Institute of Chartered Foresters will be holding its national study tour on 23-24 October.

The tour will focus on broadleaved silviculture in the Marches, looking at the impact of pests, diseases and devolved forestry policy on future management practices.

The tour will start in Leominster in Hereforshire with an evening of talks. Delegates will visit Nash Wood at Presteigne in Powys before heading to Barnett Wood, Wigmore and then Mortimer Forest near Ludlow.

Experts speaking include Dr Joan Webber, principal pathologist and Dr Ralph Harmer, a native broadleaved tree specialist and project manager, both from Forest Research.
