Ian Riggs has stepped down from the chairmanship of the BPOA to spend more time on other commitments.
He joined its committees 11 years ago and has chaired the marketing committee, before leading the association as chairman for the last two and a half years.
The BPOA management committee will be leading the process of finding a new chairman.
Riggs said: "The select on of a theme and the organisation of BGLA this year, planned for October, goes a long way to deciding the associations direction of travel for the next two years. I believe the new chairman for 2015 should have the opportunity to have a major input into BGLA.
"As no person to date has come forward for the position of vice chairman to assist with the chairman’s duties this year and I have taken up a highly responsible role that requires my fuller attention. Regrettably I cannot combine the position of association chairman and my employment, so I am sad to inform you of my resignation as BPOA chairman. I fully realise that the association has protocols to elect a new chairman and to enable this process I can give a period of notice, and propose to cease my duties as chairman from a date to be agreed."
