HTA garden centre June figures show slight rise

The latest Garden Retail Monitor figures have been analysed and show that June sales are up three per cent on 2011, while year to date figures are down 11 per cent on last year.

HTA marketing director Andrew Maxted said:

"June 2012 temperatures were below normal and it was the coolest June since 1991. Combine this with June 2012 being the wettest across the UK since 1910; it’s good to see June 2012 figures are up on 2011.

"However, June 2011 was also hit with high rainfall and lower than average temperatures. A comparison with 2010 sales figures therefore shows June 2012 sales are down eight per cent on June 2010 and year to date figures are down six per cent on 2010."

Meanwhile, the announcement of the new HTA director general is due this week.
