How to get those Horticulture Week Business Awards entries nailed in no time!

With five days to go to the entry deadline for the Horticulture Week Business Awards 2019, here are the steps to take to get those entries nailed in no time at all - and your business on its way to industry recognition.

STEP 1: PICK YOUR CATEGORY & CHECK THE CRITERIA (Don't forget, if you enter 3 categories, the 3rd entry is free!)

This year's programme includes a suite of Production Business award categories, a suite of Retail Business award categories and a suite of Landscape Business award categories.

In addition there is a suite of General Business categories open to entries from all sectors. The General Business categories include Employer of the Year, Business Innovation of the Year, New Business of the YearHigh Growth Business of the Year, Consultant of the Year and Most Admired Business Leader.

Suppliers supporting retail, production and landscape businesses with products and services are also welcome to enter the General Business categories.

All the categories and their criteria can be viewed at www.hwbusinessawards.com/categories.

Still not sure which category will work best for you?  Email editor Kate Lowe now at kate.lowe@haymarket.com now and she will help you choose.

STEP 2: TELL THE JUDGES WHAT YOU HAVE ACHIEVED IN YOUR ENTRY STATEMENT

Keep your Entry Statement simple (500 words is plenty and 1500 the maximum) and focus on the following 3 questions :

  • What you set out to achieve
  • What you have achieved
  • How you achieved it

Back up your achievements with evidence - for example, if better customer service has been a key achievement, refer to evidence from feedback surveys, testimonials etc

Focus on achievements from the past 24 months - the awards recognise work that was carried out or completed during the 2 year period from 1 January 2017 to 1 January 2019

STEP 3: GATHER ANY SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS & IMAGES AND SUBMIT ONLINE BY 15 MARCH

Gather your best supporting documents and images - these could include testimonials (always good), customer surveys, financial information (which will be kept confidential) and submit these together with your Entry Statment and Summary at www.hwbusinessawards.com

Good Luck!
