Eighteen new plants, products and services have been nominated for the Innovation Award at the Horti Fair trade show in Amsterdam later this month. But there was no luck for the five British companies among the entrants.
Commercial Horticultural Association events and marketing officer Stuart Booker described the result as "disappointing". The CHA, which supports UK exhibitors attending overseas shows, had hoped a nomination would bring recognition to UK horticulture on the international stage, he said.
Winners will be announced on the opening day of the show, Tuesday 14 October, with a prize of €10,000 for the overall winner.
Among those nominated in the production category is the three-strong Hypericum Hypearls series (pictured) from Dutch company De Ruiter Innovations, with berries in yellow, pink and red.
