Homebase confirms Hexham opening date for site which will include garden centre

Homebase is opening up in Hexham, Northumberland at the railway station’s former goods yard over Easter weekend as part of an £8m retail development with Pets at Home and Majestic Wine.

New store manager for Hexham’s 2,000sqm Homebase is Louise Reilly. There will be 25 staff.

The Homebase will include a garden centre. Rokeby Developments, in agreement with Wm Morrison Supermarkets and development manager Network Rail is behind the project.

Homebase improved 25 garden centres in 2013 including Battersea, Horsham and Ewell.

Bromsgrove is also due to open this spring. But Shoreham, Camberley, Bolton, Shrewsbury, Hereford, Great Yarmouth and Cwmbran are among up to 40 stores closing.

Homebase also hopes for an online plant sales surge this spring.
