High level of orders from public gardens spells a good year for David Austin Roses

David Austin Roses has supplied a record number of Britain's best-known public gardens with roses this year.

Gardens that have recently planted new rose beds with David Austin stock include Sudeley Castle in Gloucestershire, Chiswick House in London and Wrest Park in Buckinghamshire.

"A lot of people have been creating big rose gardens this year," said technical manager Michael Marriott. "We have been involved with plantings at a lot of big public gardens."

David Austin Roses will launch five new roses at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show this year - 'Tranquillity', 'Royal Jubilee', 'The Lark Ascending', 'Heathcliff' and 'Boscobel'. They will be available to order as bare roots after the flower show.

Marriott said the new plants included a range of different types of rose. "We always want different heights and shapes, and different scents," he added. "But they all have to be healthy - that is very important."
