It aims to find out to what extent growers are using cultural and physical techniques to regulate plant growth.
HDC hope to determine which plant growth regulators (PGRs) are currently being used on UK nurseries and to quantify the effects of triazole fungicides on plant growth.
In a statement HDC said: "There are a wide range of potential cultural and physical techniques to control plant growth, some are more appropriate than others. Many growers also routinely use one or a range of PGRs in the production of bedding plants; however, the ongoing approval status of key plant growth regulators is not yet fully determined. Certain fungicides also have growth regulator properties which must be borne in mind when planning applications of PGRs.
"Your input is invaluable to enable the UK industry to obtain a better understanding of the techniques used to control plant growth and highlight potential problem areas which will be used to guide the direction of the literature review as part of the HDC project PO004."
