Haskins honours long-serving employees at event

Two members of staff at Haskins Garden Centre were invited to celebrate 20 years of service with chairman Warren Haskins.

Houseplant sales assistant Linda Plummer and indoor supervisor Dave Brown joined directors and retired former colleagues at the private function held at the centre's new £2.5m restaurant, where they were thanked for their contribution to the firm's success and each given £100 worth of gift vouchers.

Both Plummer and Brown joined the original garden centre when it was located at Trickett's Cross before its relocation to the purpose-built centre at Longham in 1994.

Brown said: "Customer expectations have increased and while the trend towards instant gardening remains, there is renewed popularity for grow-your-own fruit and vegetables and seed-based growing."

Haskins said: "I'm sure that thousands of our customers have benefited from the knowledge, advice and high level of service offered by Linda and Dave over the years. I'm delighted to have the opportunity to thank them for their dedication and professionalism."
