Harlow's Dave Bidwell nominated for groundsman of the year award

A tough turf competitor is in line for a groundsman of the year gong for battling the elements to produce a top sward week in, week out.

Dave Bidwell, groundsman at Harlow Football Club at Barrows Farm pitch, was praised for ensuring "immaculate" turf.

Bidwell has been nominated for the Ryman League groundsman of the year award.

The retired Royal Mail worker started at Harlow last July after a stint at Broxbourne
Borough Football Club.

"It's good to be recognised but you just do your job," Bidwell said. "I try to get the best surface possible with the equipment available to me."
