Hardy's Cottage Garden Plants struggle with Chelsea exhibit

Hardy’s Cottage Garden Plants has had to rework its Chelsea Flower Show exhibit as a result of the weather.

A cold winter and poor spring weather has meant the nursery will be showing much earlier Spring plants that would usually have gone over by the time Chelsea comes along.

These will include white spiked and blue veined Veronica gentianoides 'Tissington White' and all three colours of Lamprocapnos Papaveraceae (previously dicentra), as well as mixed lupins and hardy geraniums.

The new introductions for 2013 are Leucanthemum 'Real Neat', Nepeta Grandiflora 'Summer Magic' and Gaillardia 'Fanfare Blaze'.

Garden designer Ulf Nordfjell commissioned Hardy's to grow in excess of 250 of its recent introductions, Anemone 'Wild Swan', a recent winner of Chelsea Plant of the Year, for his Laurent Perrier Garden on Main Avenue.
