Hansons Garden Centre looks to diversify into childcare with kids' nursery

The Ribble Valley garden centre has submitted plans to open a children's nursery on its site in Barrow, near Clitheroe, Lancashire.

Ribble Valley Council planners are considering plans by Hansons Garden Centre for a nursery for 55 children.

The plans include a single-storey building in the 2-ha grounds of the centre.

Owner Christopher Hanson said: "It is really good for business to have something like this on site.

"It will create a nice environment and we are thinking about bringing the kids into the garden centre so that they can take part in activities.

"It will also contribute to the centre’s income as traditionally throughout the year garden centres have good times and bad ones depending on the season and we are trying to balance out the bad times, especially in the current climate."
