Growers achieve tomato prizes

Commercial tomato growers once again staved off competition from amateur gardeners to win the majority of medals at the Totally Tomato Show in West Dean Gardens, Chichester.

The event, which took place earlier this month and is now in its third year, saw Andy Roe from Flavourfresh Salads winning the Len Summerton Cup cup and the competition overall with a Santini.

Brian Moralee from Wight Salads also did well after being placed in the top three of all categories — namely cherry and baby plum, cocktail and classic and beef tomatoes.

There were 43 entries over the three categories, 21 amateur entries and 22 commercial.
