Judges’comments

"The enthusiastic lady head gardener at this huge 26ha Victorian public park in Bermondsey is working with the client officer to drive maintenance standards.

"The attention to detail on rose beds and shrub areas is excellent and the use of herbicides is avoided; hot foam control is currently being trialled in selected areas with other areas being hand weeded or mulched.

"Bedding plants are reused. Having started with the contractor as a litter picker, the head gardener has developed good horticultural knowledge and used this to lead her team to deliver the highest standards of maintenance."
