Manor Gardens is a peaceful hidden gem of a park in the seaside town of Bexhill. Some of the key features of this 2.6-acre park include a walled garden, rose garden, rhododendron collection, lawn and pond. Dense, colourful borders are filled with seasonal planting, providing bold and cheerful displays, particularly in summer.
Contractor idverde has been responsible for the maintenance of Manor Gardens since November 2013. The company employs one full-time gardener on-site to ensure the gardens are maintained to the contract specification. The gardener is supported by additional idverde contract staff as and when required. Typical tasks carried out include grass cutting, shrub and border maintenance, and hedge cutting.
Manor Gardens is a venue for local events, which the idverde team is happy to support. The company works with event organisers to ensure that the gardens are well presented for each event and returned to the same condition afterwards — ensuring litter is cleared and working to minimise any wear and tear to the gardens.
"These beautiful gardens in Bexhill-on-Sea are pristine and the warmth and passion that goes into their care shines through at every turn. The responsibility on a day-to-day basis of one on-site gardener, every flower bed is carefully weeded by hand and mulched with well-composted green waste obtained from the neat and orderly composting bays. It is clear from the attention to detail throughout the gardens that maintaining them is a labour of love for the gardener and for his colleagues who come in to support him when required."

Project Greenwich Park
Client The Royal Parks
The Royal Parks enjoy a reputation for horticultural excellence and nature conservation. The intention is to maintain and improve the already high standards. Turfsoil works to a detailed client specification to maintain the rigorously enforced standards of site cleanliness that the public has come to expect and the company supports The Royal Parks apprenticeship scheme. Greenwich Park contains a small number of deer in its "Wilderness" area, alongside the enclosed flower garden with its bedding displays, pond and waterfowl. Sports facilities include cricket and tennis. The park is open seven days a week from 6am to dusk, so many routine horticultural operations have to be carried out early in the morning. Maintenance operations other than litter collection and bins are not normally allowed when the gardens are at their busiest, to allow peace and quiet enjoyment for visitors.
